My name is Bruce Shand. This year I celebrate being in a law office in Salt Lake City, Utah for 40 years. I have concentrated my practice on a broad range of legal services effecting older adults for at least 35 of those 40 years. Elder law, planning for long-term care, estate planning, estate administration, probate, guardianship and conservatorship creation and administration, and business planning are all that I do. Older adults, however, are not our only clients. I provide estate-planning services to people of all ages. I help clients with estate planning strategies that address not only transfers on death, but also health care, taxes, asset protection, remarriage protection, disabled beneficiary protection, and disability.
Many of my clients own businesses. In addition to my law degree, I have a Masters in Business Administration. I have helped my clients with organization, business strategies that provide for the asset protection, operational strategies and strategies for the continuation of their businesses after their retirement or death.
My planning is of the highest quality. I constantly update my education in my chosen field. I am a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and I am a charter member of the Utah Bar Association Elder Law Section. I use the most refined and advanced planning tools in the industry. Unlike many in my profession, I pride myself on my personal relationship with my clients during the planning process. My relationship with my clients is usually long term. Many of my clients have been with me for between 20 and 30 years.
